Who is the producer? Mainstream of Independent?
The producer of the film is Lianne Halfon, Russell Smith and John Malkalieh. The Perks of being a Wallflower is a Mainstream film, we know this because of the amount of people in the opening credits as well as famous actress Emma Watson in the film. Also, the film budget was $13 Million which also tells us it is a Mainstream Film.

What story lines or plots are introduced in the film's opening? How are these developed in the rest of the film?/Who are the main characters?
The story line starts with the main character Charlie writer on a piece of paper to an unknown "Friend" who he has never met before and using this person to confide in his fears about starting high school. He tells us that he has spent time in the hospital and that he hasn't spoken to anyone other than his family all summer, from this we can assume Charlie is a loner and has few friends and also is very uneasy about starting high school from his counting the number of days he has until he finished high school. The plot therefore developed as Charlie finds new friends and becomes more confident in himself and happier. The plot ends with Charlie thanking his "friend" for listening and saying he doesn't need to write to them anymore as he has friends. We see Charlie facing many problems including girls, boys, bullys, and his mental condition. Charlie meets a beautiful girl Sam and her brother and begins to form a friendship with the two of them, experiencing his first crush and also experiencing his first time drinking and using drugs. Charlie also has conflict with Sam's gay brother who kisses Charlie but understands Charlie cannot develop feelings for him. Seeing as Sam is older than Charlie (being a senior) it becomes hard to accept that she will be leaving high school before him and therefore leaving him alone. But over the plot Charlie becomes more confident and isn't afraid to be alone anymore.

What social groups are we introduced to in the film?
There is not a lot of stereotyping in this film for the characters, and no social groups. However Charlie is portrayed stereotypically dealing with his Mental Condition of being Sexually abused by his now dead Aunt.

How do teen/youth characters interact with adults?
Charlie has a strong connection with his English teacher as he has a love for writing, and it is clearly shown that Charlies parents care for him deeply, for example, Charlie shyly asking for money for a party and the parents gladly giving it to him.

Camera
There are not a lot of different camera angles throughout the film, mostly close ups of main characters, group shots and the camera follows the characters round.

Editing
There is a big relaxed feel throughout the feel as it is deliberately slow paced for the big fast climax of Charlies mental breakdown. There are no special effects in this film. Charlie has most of the screen time as he is the central character.

Sound
The soundtrack is very peaceful, and slow music that goes with the slow pace of the film compared to the very emotional music of Charlies mental breakdown. There is a type writer sound effect throughout the film.

Mise-en-scene
There is light lighting throughout the film to give off a slow peaceful effect. However, there are some beautiful night time shots that are outside where bright street lamps are shown.

There are lots of various locations in the film. There is Charlies house, Charlies room/desk with his typewriter, there is the football pitch where he first meets Sam, there is the house with the party and the Car tunnel.

The key props in the film are books, which Charlie is always carrying, his type writer, alcohol bottles and car.

What did you like about this film?
This is one of my favourite films that manages to make me cry every time. I love the combination of humour, romance and drama. Charlies character I can relate too sometimes so it's nice to feel involved with the film. The film mostly has a laid back feeling that you can loose yourself and relax in. I think this is a brilliant teen film as it is a clear coming of age story in finding yourself, and has all the key aspects of teenage life, from bullying, sexual tension and sexual preference and also getting through high school.
