Kyle Cooper: What Makes A Good Title Sequence?

Kyle Cooper Interview
Kyle Cooper is a title sequence designer who "single handedly revitalised main title sequences as an art form." Cooper believes that a good title sequence should be a seamless entrance to the film, that sets expectations. The font used is very important, specifically in the title sequence of Seven, as it gives an impression of the film, and the font draws in the audience and related to the killer in the film, as the font appears to be handwritten.
Cooper has an interest in the title sequences of Deadzone, because of its simple typography and the sound creates mystery. Cooper also has a liking for the To Kill a Mocking Bird title sequence. He mentions that the marbles create a distortion in the frame's background, it links to the character's obsession, the typography is integrated, and Cooper believes that it is "beautifully photographed".
Cooper mentions "story based" main title sequences - which is specific to the backstory and a clear metaphor and pun, in relation to the plot.
Studios face problems after an audience test screening - a lack of budget and the usage of the title sequence as another scene. Cooper thinks that title sequences are greatly important, as they put the audience where they need to be to understand that is going on in the film.
