Analysis of 2 Title Sequences

From selecting 2 title sequence clips from www.artofthetitle.com
I chose to analyse: Cirque Du Freak : The Vampire's Assistant & Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump (1994) — Art of the Title
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant (2009) — Art of the Title
I also found that Cirque Du Freak used animation for their opening title sequence, in relation to the plot of the film. Whereas, Forrest Gump used titles over a moving image - the title sequence consists of camera following a travelling feather and the titles fading on to the screen during this action - the feather later on in the film becomes relevant.

1. Order of credits in title sequence
Cirque du Freak
Forrest Gump
2. Font

Cirque du Freak

I found that the font was bold and cartoon-like and presented in black, all the letters were fairly the same size and a clear show of artist illustration.
Forrest Gump
The font used in the title sequence is formal and similar to the Times Roman font, but more elongated on the frame - it was presented in white.

3. How the font is presented

Cirque du Freak
The font is shown moving within the animation in action in the frame - it goes along with what is happening in the animated title sequence.
Forrest Gump
The titles are generally presented in the centre of the frame - each name had faded in, and then out.

4. What happens behind the font

Cirque du Freak
Behind the font, rapid animation is occurring, we hear orchestral intense music that is building up gradually. The animation in fact does not give away the plot and storyline of the film - but fits the genre.
Forrest Gump
The camera follows a floating feather, also an establishing shot, throughout the whole title sequence, leading to the main character played by Tom Hanks. Slow, emotional piano music is played throughout the title sequence.

5. What do you like about this sequence?

Cirque du Freak
I like this sequence because of the fact that it does not give any direct details about the plot and storyline, but also has interesting animations, which I find amusing because the actual film is not animated itself.
Forrest Gump
I like the simplicity of this title sequence - it also does not give away too much of the plot. The audience does not know the significance of the feather that the camera is following - I also think that it is a seamless and smooth introduction to the main character.
