Editing Session 5

 

Today we plan to rearrange our titles over our shots in the correct order, however we first needed to complete adding all the right shots into Final Cut pro. We then went through the film numerous times and cut the shots to the appropriate length they needed to be in order for the film to run smoothly and look professional. This was a lengthly process as it was difficult to get the shot lengths exactly right so they fit with the before and after shot.

 

We also made our Under The SSEA Productions Ident for the beginning of our film in Motion, using the template of Satin and added this image for the background to represent Under The SSEA Group. 

Seun also made our films music in Garage Band and added it to our film. We feel the music fits really well for our film type.

Rizwana

Rizwana liked the fact that we used different shots so that it is not boring her.
She also mentioned that she liked the amount of camera time that each character got because it was enough time for each character to introduce themselves and their role within the title sequence. Rizwana  also liked our credits because it fit the theme well because its a high school drama.


Shakayla

wasn't able to tell Shannon was a hipster from her costume - so we plan on adding titles on what character is what to help the audience understand the role of each character.

Editing Session 4

From the feedback we have received from Dan, we decided to reshoot the majority of our title sequence during the half term, and we began editing and including shots we had taken. We decided to reshoot the beginning of our title sequence on one side of the road, as we thought that there was difficulty when moving from one side to the other.
Today, we edited in all the successful shots we had taken and arranged them in chronological order. Next, we plan on rearranging our titles in an appropriate order.

Production Diary - Filming Session 3

Day 3 of filming - As we had to reshoot a few parts in our title sequence, we decided to film on the Tuesday of half term, where the weather was appropriate. We began with the princess character, making sure we included small assets that we could include so it did not drag on like our rough cut - this included shooting the character drinking from the coffee cup, scrolling through her phone, and a close up of her reaction to the main character. We then proceeded to shoot small aspects of each character, including hands going in pockets, point of view shots, close ups, etc. Then we were fortunate that the college gate was open, and we reshot the end scene, where some of the characters enter, then the camera pans up to the sky. 

Filming Day 3

Today we went to film all the scenes that we identified as weak and do not fit our film.
We had to get a new character in place of Emily, her name is Ashley and I feel as she played her role very well as she fit the character very well with her costume and she went a little over the top with the sun glasses and long jacket which matched our over the top fashion lover.

Change of Cast

We had planned on reshooting some of our title sequence during the half term. Unfortunately, Emily had gone away and was not in London at the time we planned to refilm. So, we asked someone (Ashley) else to play her part. Her outfit perfectly executed the role of the "princess". 

Jewellery and additional make up will be added to the character's costume.

Reflection on Production - Contribution

Throughout the production of our title sequence, I felt that I have been contributing a fair amount. I have been able to use social networking (Twitter) to create updates in terms of our filming and location. I also feel that I have helped into the content of our group blogs. A large part of my contribution was when editing and altering our title sequence on Final Cut Pro. I have managed to cut and fit in some shots, so that they seem almost seamless. I have been attending workshops during lunch times to edit our title sequence. I have also began to create our website through creating an account on Weebly.

Blogging Health Check 2

"Good blogging so far. Your production diaries are really nice and detailed and I like the way that you considering problems and dealing with them, rather than just saying "we did x". and I like the way that you are taking note of my feedback as well - though I still don't think you've really gone to town on the costumes as much as possible. You can do diary entries as group posts but should also some add some short posts about your individual contributions. Also consider your skills development - what skills have you picked up since you began. Remember, workshop is open every day for you to add blogs. For your editing blogs, try and include a record of what you learn about Final Cut, different techniques you might try etc.

Remember what I said to you on Friday about the "unevenness " of your sequence so far. There are a lot of shots of Seun walking and much less of the encoutners with the vaiours other characters. Is there anything you can do to overcome this?"

From the group feedback we have been given, our next steps include refilming a few scenes inorder to make our title sequence flow and work evenly. We intend on cutting down some shots and including more elements that would interest our audience slightly more. We intend on using the workshops  to alter our mistakes in order to create a successful title sequence.
